MTA MASIH AHLI UTAMA KEPADA WTF

MTA masih ahli utama kepada WTF

From Utusan Borneo
Posted on December 25, 2013, Wednesday

Cetuskan elemen pendidikan

by Reno Benjamin. Posted on December 14, 2013, Saturday

Registered taekwondo bodies allowed to teach martial arts in schools

Posted on December 14, 2013, Saturday
SIBU: Taekwondo bodies that are registered with state’s Sports Commissioner (SC) and the Registrar of Societies (ROS) will be allowed to teach the martial arts in schools nationwide.
Ministry of Education deputy director of Co-Curriculum and Arts Division, Mohd Annuar Abdul Hamid said taekwondo bodies must also register their instructors with the SC and the ROS.
“So long as the taekwondo body can fulfill these criteria, then there is no reason why they should be stopped from teaching taekwondo in schools,” he said during the Sarawak Taekwondo Federation (STF) annual dinner cum awards presentation ceremony held on Thursday night.
Among those present were Malaysia Taekwondo Association (MTA) secretary-general Eddie Tuan, chairman of MTA’s technical administrative board, Master Lee Byung Hee of World Taekwondo headquarters, South Korea and association chairman, Dr Henry Toh Yew King and principal of SMK Sacred Heart, Stephen Tan.
“We not siding with any party and we merely wanted to work for the interests and the betterment of students. The education agenda for children is more important and that is why we need to protect them,” Annuar said.
“Children can become aggressive gradually and we need to teach them the values in life so that they will develop into a better person when they grow up,” he added.
According to him, there were about 5.4 million students in the country including 2,000 secondary and 8,000 primary schools.
He said “We view taekwondo as an educational instrument and through taekwondo, or sports like wushu, silamban and silat, all these come with an added element of responsibility to nurture students into a better person.”
“It’s the spirit that is instilled in you and the philosophy behind the teaching, the breathing technique and for not provoking a fight that will prepare you to live in peace and harmony. That is the philosophy about taekwondo,” he enthused.
Meanwhile, Eddie earlier had assured Annuar that MTA would continue to teach taekwondo in schools to ensure that the students excelled in their chosen sports.
On another matter, he disclosed that Sarawak was chosen to host next year East Malaysia zone inter-school taekwondo championship.

Mahkamah putuskan MTA masih pertubuhan sah

From MSTAR on-line
Keputusan Mahkamah Beri Nafas Baharu Kepada MTA

Sejak MTA dibubarkan, Taekwando Malaysia (TM) mengambil alih tampuk pimpinan sukan taekwando negara.
Bagaimanapun, menteri berkenaan mengekalkan keputusan Pesuruhjaya Sukan.

Four Gold For Malaysia At Taekwondo Championships In Guangzhou, China

SIBU, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia chopped and kicked the competition out to bag four gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the three-day, Second Asia Zone Taekwondo Culture Open Championships in Guangzhou, China, beginning Aug 10.

The event is sanctioned by the world body, World Taekwondo Federation.

Malaysia Taekwondo Association (MTA) vice-president/grandmaster Dr Henry Y. K. Toh said some 1,500 fighters from more than 10 Asian countries, including powerhouse South Korea, took part in the championships.

He said Malaysia sent 17 taekwondo exponents to the event. Of the number, 10 participated in the 'poomsae' (pattern) division while the rest engaged in 'kyorugi' (free sparring).

He was speaking to reporters here today, after receiving a courtesy call from two Sarawakians who won a gold each for the national team.

The two are Wong Tiong Yung and Lucas Chieng Tiew Lik. Another participant, Winnie Lau lee Ling, snatched a bronze in the women's 48kg 'kyorugi' division.

TAEKWONDO: Eight of the best

GEORGE TOWN: EIGHT taekwondo exponents from Penang will carry the Jalur Gemilang to the 2nd Asian Zone Cultural Championships starting in Guangzhou, China tomorrow.
The event is hosted by the Guangdong District Taekwondo Association and the Guangdong Competitive Sports Training Centre.
State Youth and Sports department director Zakaria Kasa said the exponents, comprising three men and five women, were from the Penang United Taekwondo Society (MTA-WTF) and they were selected during last month's state Closed Junior Taekwondo Championship.
The eight will participate in kyorugi (sparring), individual and team poomsae (pattern) in the junior (13-16 age-group) category and the senior (above 17 years) category.
Former two-time national champion Sathiya Kumar Satinathan, a sixth dan taekwondo exponent, will lead the team.
He will participate in the senior poomsae (individual pattern) category while Yuganeswaraan Krishnan (above 17) and Mathuraiveran Ravindran (13-16) make up the men's team.
The women's team comprise Koay Yin Yin, Chuah Sue Yi, Chuah Xin Hui and Kung Boon Pei (all above age 17), and Tai Li Ling (13-16).
Accompanying them are Neoh Eng Huat, who is both coach and team manager, Malaysian Taekwondo Association grandmaster Peter Kang and Mas Muna Radhi.
Neoh, who was also the state's United Taekwondo Society (MTA-WTF) chairman, said it was the first time the national body had selected Penang to send a team to the four-day Asian-level championships where some 1,500 martial arts exponents from more than 10 countries will be competing.
"Since we are participating for the first time, we are not sure of the competition level there. As such, we have not set a target.
"Participation at the championship is mostly out of goodwill, but it will be a good exposure for our athletes in preparation for the 2014 Perlis Malaysia Games and also for other national level championships.
"The Guangzhou Competitive Sports Training Centre has produced many world champions, so we intend to tap its training techniques and facilities," he said after receiving the national flag from Zakaria at the Youth and Sports Complex in Batu Uban near here recently.
Neoh said while in Guangzhou, they will also be scouting for coaches for the state and national teams and at the same time open up avenues for a twining programme so that both Penang and Guangdong can have regular exchange programmes.

Dated 29 ~ 30 June, 2013 From the Borneo Post.
SIBU: Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh reminds athletes that the true spirit of participation in competitions is to foster unity and togetherness.
“In sports, it’s not so much about winning or losing. Rather, it’s your full spirit and the spirit of sportsmanship that is what truly matters,” he added.
Wong was speaking at the opening of the inaugural East Malaysia Zone Self Defence Taekwondo Championship 2013 held at SMK Sacred Heart yesterday afternoon.
More than 200 exponents from 32 teams, including a team each from Kota Kinabalu and Labuan, took part in the championship. The eight local participating divisions included Miri, Tatau, Bintulu, Sibu, Sarikei Team A and B, Kanowit and Mukah.
Among those attending the event were Malaysia Taekwondo Association (MTA) Secretary General Eddie Tuan and Sarawak Taekwondo Federation (STF) Chairman Dr Henry Toh and Sibu Resident Sim Kok Kee.
The two-day championship, organised by MTA and hosted by STF was aimed at promoting the art of self defence among the students.
He recalled Dr Toh spent most part of his life promoting taekwondo and he must know very well that taekwondo was good for the young people.
“You have chosen taekwondo as one of your extracurricular activities in school and I hope you can influence more of your
school mates and friends to participate in this taekwondo movement.”
Wong reminded the exponents that there was no shortcut to success and to excel, they had to train hard.
“You cannot achieve glory in a matter of days. You have to do constant training to improve your skills as taekwondo to improve yourselves both physically and mentally.
Later, Wong also announced a grant of RM10,000 for STF to conduct its annual activities.
