Tiong Yung wins STF promising exponent award

SIBU: Wong Tiong Yung from SMK sacred Heart won Sarawak Taekwondo Federation (STF) Most Promising Exponent of the year award after his sterling performance in the 2nd Asia Zone Taekwondo Culture Open Championship in Guangzhou earlier this year.
He took part in the individual poomsae (pattern) 18-years-and-under category and returned with a gold medal and at home front, he also bagged three gold medals in the inaugural East Malaysia Zone Inter-School Self Defence Taekwondo Championship held locally.
He won gold in the 18 years and below team poomsae, individual category and featherweight category of kyorugi and won a silver in the individual category, a bronze medal in the inaugural International Poomsae Championship held in Penang.
The Most Promising Women Exponent of the year was won by Winnie Lau Lee Lee of SMK Deshon and she won a bronze medal in the 2nd Asia Zone Taekwondo Culture Open Championship in Guangzhou, a gold medal at the East Malaysia zone Inter-School Self Defence taekwondo championship.
For the primary school category, the Most Talented Men Exponent of the year award was won by Lee Hock Xiang from SJK Kwong Chien Sarikei while Wong Chieng Chieng from SJK Wah Man of Sarkei won the women’s category.
Sim Kee Ting from Bintulu was awarded the best instructor of the year while the best coach of the year went to Michael Wong Sie Ing.
The most dedicated male instructor of the year went to Wong Leh Kion while Ling Ling took the title as the most dedicated female instructor of the year.
The best performing school of the year went to SMK Sacred Heart.
